Egret Marsh Beginner Birding Walks

Egret Marsh novice bird walks are planned again this year . Masks may be required where social distancing is not possible.  Walks are subject to change due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Entry to the marsh is restricted. Walks are an easy 3/4 mile stroll from 8:45am – 10:15am.

We will see many of the wading and water birds of Florida and learn how to identify them.  We will also keep an eye in the sky for Bald Eagles, Hawks and, sometimes, a Caracara.  Alexis Peralta, the park educator, will give a fascinating explanation of how a storm water functions.

Each session is limited to 7 people and will have 3 walks at Egret Marsh.

We have loaner binoculars available for all who need them.

You do not have to be a member of Pelican Island Audubon Society to sign up for a session but we do ask that you plan to attend the three walks for your session.

Any new birder planning to take the Intensive Beginner Birding Class in February will find this a good introduction.

Session one: November 18, December 2 & December 16, 2020. Please note the ever other week dates.

Session two: December 30, 2020, and January 13 & January 27, 2021. Please note the every other week dates.
